A singular foliation on a complete Riemannian manifold M is said to be Riemannian if each geodesic that is perpendicular at one point to a leaf remains perpendicular to every leaf it meets. We prove that if the distribution of normal spaces to the regular leaves is integrable, then each leaf of this normal distribution can be extended to be a complete immersed totally geodesic submanifold (called section), which meets every leaf orthogonally. In addition the set of regular points is open and dense in each section. This result generalizes a result of Boualem and solves a problem inspired by a remark of Palais and Terng and a work of Szenthe about polar actions. We also study the singular holonomy of a singular Riemannian foliation with sections (s.r.f.s. for short) and in particular the tranverse orbit of the closure of each leaf. Furthermore we prove that the closures of the leaves of a s.r.f.s on M form a partition of M which is a singular Riemannian foliation. This result proves partially a conjecture of Molino.  相似文献

We give a necessary and sufficient condition for a submanifold with parallel focal structure to give rise to a global foliation of the ambient space by parallel and focal manifolds. We show that this is a singular Riemannian foliation with complete orthogonal transversals. For this object we construct an action on the transversals that generalizes the Weyl group action for polar actions.

If G is a finite group and if A is a group of automorphisms of G whose fixed point subgroup is C G (A) then every subgroup F of C G (A) acts on the set of orbits of A in G. We study equivalence relations and II1 factors associated with (quotients of) generalized Bernoulli actions of Kazhdan groups. Specific families of these actions are entirely classified up to isomorphism of II1 factors. This yields explicit computations of outer automorphism and fundamental groups. In particular, every finitely presented group is concretely realized as the outer automorphism group of a continuous family of non stably isomorphic II1 factors.  相似文献

Given an isometric immersion of a compact Riemannian manifold of dimension n ≥ 3 into Euclidean space of dimension n + 1, we prove that the identity component Iso 0(M n ) of the isometry group Iso(M n ) of M n admits an orthogonal representation such that for every . If G is a closed connected subgroup of Iso(M n ) acting polarly on M n , we prove that Φ(G) acts polarly on , and we obtain that f(M n ) is given as Φ(G)(L), where L is a hypersurface of a section which is invariant under the Weyl group of the Φ(G)-action. We also find several sufficient conditions for such an f to be a rotation hypersurface. Finally, we show that compact Euclidean rotation hypersurfaces of dimension n ≥ 3 are characterized by their underlying warped product structure.   相似文献

Given the hyperbolic measure dxdy/y 2 on the upper half plane ℍ, the rational actions of PSL2(ℝ) on ℍ induces a continuous unitary representation α of this group on the Hilbert space L 2(ℍ, dxdy/y 2). Supposing that = {M f : fL (ℍ, dxdy/y 2)}, we show that the crossed product is of type I. In fact, the crossed product is *-isomorphic to the von Neumann algebra , where is the abelian group von Neumann algebra generated by the left regular representation of K. In this paper, we study the connections between properties of the action of a countable group on a countable set and the ergodic theoretic properties of the corresponding generalized Bernoulli shift, i.e., the corresponding shift action of on , where is a measure space. In this paper, we first define discrete, smooth actions on , whose limit sets are Cantor sets wildly embedded in (Antoine's necklaces). Secondly, we define Schottky groups on real projective spaces of odd dimensions, . A classical result says that a free action of the circle S1 on a topological space X is geometrically classified by the orbit space B and by a cohomological class eH2(B,Z), the Euler class. When the action is not free we have a difficult open question:

The main result of this work is a step towards the understanding of the above question in the category of unfolded pseudomanifolds. We prove that the orbit space B and the Euler class determine:
the intersection cohomology of X,
the real homotopy type of X.

Noncommutative associative algebras are constructed which have the structure of module algebras over tensor products of pairs of quantized universal enveloping algebras.
